Safe dimension of Russian foreign policy in the Balkans

Abstract

The article deals with security dimension of Russia’s foreign policy in the Balkans. Interconnections between Russia’s actions in the region and its relationships with the US and UE are highlighted. Comparative analysis of Russia’s foreign policy in the Balkans during presidencies of B. Yeltsin and V. Putin was conducted. Special attention is drawn upon NATO’s military operation in 1999, and to the issue of final status of Kosovo.
