Abstract

Two very different books and two very different styles of review follow. Both perspectives and both works can be instructive. Educating Reason by Harvey Siegel should be of wide interest to all readers of Analytic Teaching as it addresses an issue central to Analytic Teaching and Philosophy for Children, that is, critical thinking. While Sternberg's review of Educating Reason is critical, it none-the-less provides a perspective on the issues discussed in the work and aids the reader in seeing the scope and limits of the work. It is of value particularly as it invites us to examine critical thinking from a psychological point of view as well as an educational and philosophical one.
