Abstract

Fu Jen Catholic University Department of Philosophy in the Second ○ ○三年September implementation of the new teaching program design, included a study of philosophical counseling group, this group is to study philosophy at the University of Taiwan opened the first class group, group lessons can be developed if this is the practical application of philosophy to more than one level, with an effective way to help others. This paper is to explore the significance of philosophical counseling as well as the theoretical basis, hope to the development of philosophical counseling as a response. This paper argues that the basis of philosophical counseling should be based on a holistic, universal, open, with the humanistic spirit of the system of philosophy, followed by analysis of philosophical counseling theories and psychological counseling, psychiatric treatment of the similarities and differences, and on its content and values ​​to make a study, and finally, a brief description of contemporary philosophical counseling theory and application of the method used, expectations and philosophy through the integration of counseling to promote the development of human culture. In the new curriculum designs of the Department of Philosophy, Fu Jen Catholic University, starting from September, 2003, the curriculum of philosophical counseling is made a component for the first time . We will gain a new aspect of the practical application of philosophy and a new way to help people if this curriculum is developed. This paper is intended to explore the meaning and theoretical foundation of philosophical counseling in response to its development. In this paper, it is believed that the philosophical counseling should be founded on an integrated, general, open and humanistic systems philosophy. Then we analyze the differences and similarities between the theories of philosophical counseling, psychological counseling, and psychiatric counseling in order to explore further their content and values. Finally, we summarize the methods and applications of the contemporary theories of philosophical counseling in wishes to contribute to the significant development of our culture through merging counseling and philosophy
