The Original Art of Music

Abstract

The result of more than 40 years of intense research, this book argues that hearing and making music is an individual experience, and that the inner search for what constitutes real music is comparable to the mythical hero's spiritual pilgrimage in search of self and truth. The author questions the value of traditional music education and offers her own experience as a teacher and musician in search of the original art of music. All those interested in inquiring into the authentic, original nature of art (especially music) will enjoy this fascinating book. Co-published with the Aspen Institute.
