Abstract
The assumption of the legislator’s rationality, which is accepted in the legal sciences, predetermines, that also in the sphere of axiology rational actions are ascribed to them. As a rational axiologist, the legislator professes definite values, ordering them in a hierarchy and making this system relatively stable. The values ascribed to the legislator consist of three categories: legal values, reference values, and values of a universal character. In the perspective of a legislator’s axiological system, ratio legis may be qualified as a value, and also as a legally binding value.
