Abstract

What is Imperfection in Utopia?Imperfection is the measure of our love for things as they are.Appropriating solidarity in a utopian context is frequently, if not predominantly, associated with the former's definition as "the inner cement holding together a society."1 In many utopian narratives solidarity functions as an indispensable element of social cohesion, facilitated by various cooperative strategies. Both the solidarity of the utopians with one another and the state's solidarity with its people are approached as one of the fundamental precepts of the commonwealth, aimed at sustaining the general welfare.
