Abstract

It may seem accidental and strange to take just a single performance by such a wide-ranging actor as Phister, and if one does take a single performance, then it may in turn again seem accidental and strange to select Captain Scipio in particular. Well, as a matter of fact the latter is accidental, or there is something accidental in it, but so it is and so it must be—least of all is there any intimation of the silly notion that this role is the best, the most splendid, etc. No, there is something accidental in it—namely, “Captain Scipio”...
