On the Origination of Chinese Fiction: from "Yu" to "Shui"

Abstract

This historical stage earlier Qinzhi Han, China experienced a form of discourse by the "language" to "that" the evolution process, "language" of this place, the Western Zhou era is backed by the social system, can be said a "stability" of discourse place; contrast, "said" the place is no longer a stable social base. In the loss of the Western Zhou Dynasty into the kind of orderly society, to capture the changing mood of the listener's psychological, "said" the words of the talk will hone their skills. So say those who talk about the changing mood in order to attract listeners who, in various skills at the same time condensed, its content richer. This art form of the novel is in the process developed. The style of ancient Chinese discourse had been changed from "Yu" to "Shui" during the Pro-Qin and Han period. The style of "Yu" based on the social system from the West Zhou dynasty could be regarded as a "stable" discourse; on the contrary, because of the style of "Shui" without a stable social base, the speakers had to improve their talking skills by rich contents to catch the auditors' attentions. Therefore, Chinese fiction had been originated from this process
