Abstract

CaiMan (Computer aided interactive-multimedial manager training) is a program and training concept to reach out communicative competencies. The basic concepts of CaiMan come from the constructivistic schools surrounding Bransford (anchored instruction) and Collins (cognitive apprenticeship). The four level approach from Schulz von Thun (1981) is employed as a communication model. Communicative competency is subdivided in verbal abilities, emotional speaking competency, and cognitive speech competency. The software package CaiMan is composed of CaiManStill (still videos as visual medium), CaiManVideo (video sequences as medium), and CaiMaker (as a task-generating tool for the trainer)
