Abstract

In this article, the author problematizes the knowledge of the Torah in Christian religious education, and makes an effort to initiate dialogue from a didactic perspective. Interpretations of what kind of religion Judaism is strengthen certain stereotypes on Jews and Judaism, for example the stereotypical image of a harsh god in the Old Testament. The author suggests that the continuity between the Torah and Christianity should be emphasized in religious education. The presentation of Judaism as a so called law religion is also problematic. Instead, it would be soteriologically correct to point out the covenant prior to the law, and emphasize that Torah came after the covenant.
