Abstract

Michel Foucault left a complex piece of work to the social sciences. This makes him an enormous source of inspiration to this day. The problem that accompanies this, however, is that there is no easy way to start reading Foucault’s works. Unfortunately this can prove to be quite a burden. As such this chapter aims to provide a key to a reading of Foucault’s book Discipline and Punish. Moreover, the underlying assumption of the chapter is that Foucault’s critique of society in his book Discipline and Punish overlaps with ideas from the film One Flew Over the Cuckoo’s Nest.
