Abstract

The object of study in this work is the response that some singers and music groups have given to the terrorism perpetrated by the self-proclaimed “Islamic State”, between 2015 and 2017, with special attention to some of their songs against terrorism. Likewise, it is analyzed whether the selected songs have a social function of delegitimizing this type of violence. To do this, first it is exposed what is the conception that this jihadist organization has about music: its anasheed and the attacks perpetrated against the music sector, especially the western one. Afterwards, the response of singers and music groups to these actions is analyzed.
