Abstract

Chairman Mao's "On the Ten Major Relationships" provides the programmatic doctrines for the conduct of socialist revolution and construction. It is also a brilliant essay which penetrates and develops Marxist materialist dialectics. In this brilliant essay, not only did Chairman Mao straightforwardly discuss the fundamental doctrines of materialist dialectics, raise and expound upon the two-point theory and the essential-point theory, the property of unity and the property of independence, the property of individuality and the property of universality, the two different kinds of contradiction in socialist society and the resultant two possible forms of development of contradictions, and other brilliant philosophical problems, but he also placed particular emphasis on the application of the law of the unity of opposites in the observation and analysis of the movements of the contradictions in each kind of thing in socialist society and, on the basis of such analyses, he indicated precise methods for solving these contradictions and establishing the correct line, principles and policies. In "On the Ten Major Relationships," be raised, analyzed and resolved problems with glowing brilliance, the brightness of materialist dialectics. In the twenty years since the writing of this essay, China's socialist revolution and realization of socialist construction have completely verified the correctness of the theories, principles and policies raised by Chairman Mao and have revealed the powerful force of materialist dialectics.
