Abstract

In this study the concept of Bildung as an aim for tertiary chemical education is discussed, particularly seen in the light of the challenges of society as they can be identified in Ulrich Beck's perspective on the emerging society as a 'risk society'. The importance of reflectivity as part of contemporary Bildung is highlighted, and the role of ethics in this reflectivity is specifically discussed
