Abstract

In his early work "Vico and Mythology" , Max Horkheimer praised Giambattista Vico for his sociological and political view of myth. Horkheimer's later work, the Dialectic of Enlightenment jointly written with Theodor W. Adorno approaches the relationship between enlightened thought and mythological barbarism. This paper aims to pointing out the difference between Vico's view of myth and that purported in the Dialectic of Enlightenment
