Abstract

This paper explores the paradox of free speech through the lens of the Chiral Dynamics of Emergent Systems (CODES), a theory that frames all phenomena as existing in a dynamic equilibrium between chaos and order. Free speech, as a concept, sits at the intersection of these forces: too much order (censorship) stifles its purpose, while too much chaos (unchecked speech) undermines its societal utility. By applying CODES, we provide a systemic and mathematical framework to understand how free speech operates as an emergent adaptive system and propose a model for its equilibrium.
