Abstract

The mathematician Vladimir Voevodsky warned us that mathematics is on the verge of a crisis. We argue this crisis, if any, turns out to be a replication crisis in the sense of the natural sciences and it threatens to break down the traditional peer review system used by mathematics journals. We discuss how progress at the forefront of the foundations of mathematics could offer a way out in the future, if needed.
