Abstract
This paper explores the intricate concept of personhood, examining its philosophical and theological dimensions and their implications for human dignity in an era increasingly dominated by technological advancements. Drawing from classical and contemporary sources, the study investigates how foundational ideas from thinkers such as Immanuel Kant, René Descartes, and Thomas Aquinas intersect with theological perspectives on human identity, especially in the context of the imago Dei. The paper addresses the challenges posed by artificial intelligence, biotechnology, and other technological innovations, analysing their potential impact on our understanding of personhood and dignity. By integrating philosophical rigor with theological insights, the study aims to offer a nuanced ethical framework that upholds human dignity amidst technological change, while also highlighting the role of faith communities in shaping responses to these emerging challenges.
