Abstract

In the article the features of development of parity democracy in Ukraine in the context of contemporary European trends addressing gender sensitive issues in the political sphere. On the basis of the European experience analyzed the current situation regarding quantitative parameters comply with European gender requirements and the most effective measures for their implementation, as well as the status of implementation of these measures in Ukraine. The analysis shows the complex nature of addressing gender balance and representation of women, particularly in political parties and the legislature. On its basis the conclusion is made that only through the joint efforts of all relevant actors, including governmental structures, political parties, media and organizations of the public sector with the use of a combination of various measures to stimulate the involvement of women in political activities it is possible to achieve gender parity.
