Abstract

This chapter examines the diverse and conflicting interpretation of Soren Kierkegaard as a theologian. It suggests that this variety of interpretation results in the suspicion that each particular construal of his corpus may be nothing but a function of the particular author's own theological predilections or phobias. The chapter also considers the debate about Kierkegaard's theological methods and the relation of his analysis of subjectivity to his exposition of objective doctrinal teachings.
