Abstract

The aim of this essay is to present the general characteristics of Baruch Spinoza’s epistemology, in order to show how it is structured and to what extent an ethic consideration can be deduced from that epistemology. To do this, I will analyze the ways to understand that Spinoza proposes both in the Ethics and in On the Improvement of the Understanding, emphasizing the differences in the subject exposed in those works. Thus, I analyze the progression made by Spinoza in his exposition of the ways of knowing he proposes. This progression, according to Spinoza, ends up in a link between wisdom and the ethic consideration proposed by him.
